Trees
Learn the following vocabulary: tree, trunk, crown, branch, leaf, needle, bark, root, seed, winter, spring, fall, summer.

Identify and describe the basic parts of a tree. including the trunk, crown, branches, leaves, bark, roots and seeds.
Sort and classify leaves
Name and describe the four seasons
Recognize that some trees lose their leaves in the fall, while others do not.

Compare and contrast colours using the terms lighter than, darker than, brighter than, etc.
Sort and classify objects based on colours
Predict and describe changes in colour that result from mixing colours (especially primary colours

Paper
Use appropriate vocabulary related to their investigations of paper, including thick, thin, hard, soft, smooth, rough, absorbent, pliable.
Identify kinds of paper that can be found in the classroom. Examples: drawing paper, paper towels, paper plates, books, newspaper, cardboard, tissue paper...
Recognize that paper is most often made from trees.
Observe and compare characteristics of different kinds of paper.
Use the design process to construct a paper product for a particular use. (Ex. Leperchaun trap)

Recognize globes, maps, and models as representations of actual places.
